We will learn how to make Sushi Cake Party Decoration with Japanese Cuisine Artist miwako!

After a brief introduction on Japanese Cuisine and Sushi Cake origins, she will show you how to redesign Sushi, the most representative Japanese dish, in a simple and enjoyable way.
After that, miwako sensei will give you a demonstration of a different dish called temarizushi (“ball-shaped sushi”).

Arrange an original cake for you parties and amaze your guests!
Everything you need is just a few typical Japanese ingredients and your curiosity!

Japanese Food Artist miwako will explain you the recipe for a charming Sushi Cake. Challenge yourself and create an original decoration to display at your party. It's a piece of cake!
⑤ Temarizushi Demonstration
miwako sensei will show you how to make a different version of common sushi, a funnier and cuter recipe!

What you will need

Tools
· Rice cooker or saucepan
· Cake films (18cm) 2 sheets
(if you do not have it you can use 4 transparent cup of 8cm)
· Cookie cutters (small as a sliced carrot)
· Pastry bag
· Spatula or rice scoop
· Peeler (for the cucumber)
· Kitchen knife
· Fan (not necessarily required)

 

Ingredients
· White rice 320g
· Vinegar 30cc
· Sugar 1 tablespoon
· Salt ½ teaspoon
· Salmon 8 slices
· Raw ham or roast ham 4~5 slices
· Shrimps 4~5
· Broccoli bunch 2~3 pieces
· Carrot small slices
· Cucumber 1
· Edible flowers 2~3 types
· Mashed potatoes base
(Please prepare it before the workshop starts.
If you do not have it you can make homemade mashed potatoes with the following ingredients: potato 1, butter or margarine 30g, milk 30cc, salt and pepper)

 

Preparation

· Cook the rice
· Cut the carrot into 5mm slices (2~3)
· Boil the shrimps, carrot and broccoli
· Use mashed potatoes base to make mashed potatoes
The details of how to cook the rice and mashed potatoes recipe will be given to you by mail.

 

Other

▶ White rice
If possible, prepare freshly cooked warm rice.
It is recommended to use Japanese rice since is more suitable for the recipes.

▶ Cookie cutters
Use star and flower shaped cookie cutters to slice the carrot. If you do not have it you can use the kitchen knife to cut into the shapes you prefer.

▶ Edible flowers
Choose 2 different types for a colorful and more beautiful decoration.
If you do not have it pick up and clean some flower you can find outside.

 

How to participate in the online experience

· WActivity JAPAN uses Zoom online platform for video conferencing.
· Download free Zoom software (https://zoom.us) to your own computer, tablet or mobile device.
· After the reservation is completed, we will send you the URL, meeting ID and passcode via email.
· Customers who have set up to receive emails will be contacted at the entered email address.

· To prevent howling, we recommend using headphones/earphones.
· If you are late your participation may be denied.
